The Bleeding Woman

“The Bleeding Woman” draws inspiration from the biblical story of a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for 12 years. Cast out by society for her “uncleanliness,” she embodies the isolation and abandonment many of us feel in our own struggle. Through this piece I aim to highlight the historical stigma surrounding women’s bodies and the commonality of our hardships.

Her story is one that resonates universally; we all experience seasons where we feel cast aside, unseen, or helpless—times when we reach for something beyond ourselves. The first-person perspective invites introspection, placing the viewer in her position to reflect on their own silent battles. We each have our own struggles, and in our reaching out, we find that the Divine meets us right where we are—whether at our lowest lows or highest highs.

The Swarovski-crystal-embellished nail art symbolizes the inherent beauty and value within us, even in moments of pain. Through this, I hope to convey that even in our moments of pain and perceived rejection, there is beauty and value within us.
