The Bleeding Woman

$2,150.00

This painting draws inspiration from the biblical story of a woman who, after suffering from hemorrhaging for 12 long years, spent everything she had on doctors who could not cure her. Cast out by society for her “uncleanliness,” she embodies the isolation and abandonment many of us feel in our own struggle.

Through The Bleeding Woman, I aim to highlight the historical stigma surrounding women for simply having bodies that function as they are designed. Her story is one that resonates universally; we all experience seasons where we feel cast aside, unseen, or helpless—times when we reach for something beyond ourselves.

Painting this scene from a first-person perspective was an intentional choice, allowing for a personal, introspective experience. As you look, you may find yourself in her position, recognizing that we each carry the story of the bleeding woman within us. We each have our own silent struggles, and in our reaching out, we find that the Divine meets us right where we are—whether at our lowest lows or highest highs.

The Swarovski-crystal-embellished nail art is a subtle reminder that we are all, in a way, the bleeding woman. Through this adornment, I hope to convey that even in our moments of pain and perceived rejection, there is beauty and value within us, and perhaps, in reaching out, we will find the grace to heal and be seen.
